#01 - REWORKED "2in1" COAT DRESS
This coat dress, as the name may suggest, is the result of two different secondhand thrifted coats, more precisely a slight A-line women’s wool swing coat and a single breasted classic men’s wool coat. Both of them were torn apart and inside out, the linings carefully, (and patiently!) removed.
The men’s coat sleeves were cut and the women's coat sleeves, with a slight raglan cut, were attached to the body of the men’s coat, leaving half the armhole separated. Then, to give a fuller silhouette, the bottom sides of the men’s coat were cut away and replaced by the two separated parts of the women’s coat body(the two fronts and backs were kept together at the side seam). The coat is intentionally presented as “inside out”, showing all the parts usually hidden by the lining, a pretty obvious but still humble homage to Martin Margiela’s work.
